The Mac Bear Hodges Music Festival was created to honor our beloved friend, mayor and downtown advocate, Mac Hodges, who we tragically lost to covid in August of 2020.
Last year’s concert raised the funds needed for a kid-friendly, 7-foot, brown bear as an endearing remembrance to Mac, who loved life and having fun.
This year the funds raised through sponsorships and ticket sales will go to projects that will enhance Festival Park or other beautification projects for the downtown area.
The Mac Bear Hodges organizing committee is a group of long-term community organizers including City council member, Lou Hodges and others who have years of experience bringing concerts and other events to Washington.
Organizing Committe Includes: Garlen Woolard, Committe Chair, Lou Hodges, Sara Hodges Bell, Beth Black Byrd, Gwen Troutman Edwards, Colleen Johnson Knight & Meg Howdy.
The committee works under the Washington Harbor District Alliance, which is a 501c3 non-profit NC Commerce Department Main Street organization.
